I have been a Governor at the school for 8 years and the Chair for the past two. I have two sons now in year 8 but they were both at Roundwood throughout their primary education. They were, in fact, the main reason I wanted to become in involved in the school. I wanted to have some understanding of the issues and challenges that the school faced and some way of helping to resolve them, and to ensuring the school performed well and did the best for the families that lived in the local communities. Since my children have left I have chosen to stay on as I live locally, still feel connected and like I can do some good.
I am a police officer which I believe gives a lot of transferable skills into the school environment – particularly around financial planning, target setting and managing performance.
The Governing body today has a really important part to play in the running of the school and we welcome any interest – either for future vacancies or simply from anyone wishing to come along and see what we do.
